At the risk of sounding like a miserable old so-and-so, I am really not enjoying this heatwave! My Shed is like a sauna, and switching on the fan only serves to move the too-hot air around a bit.

Apparently it’s spider season.
One of the hazards of working in a wooden building at the bottom of the garden is that spiders like to share that building with you.
I’m not the biggest fan of spiders, so I was very glad to spot this magpie taking care of one for me!
Paul and I spent the weekend in Derbyshire, discussing wedding cake with my Aunt.
Helen runs a lovely B&B in Hartington, so we had the perfect base to do some walking and sightseeing.
Being the lambing season, what we saw most of were sheep!
Paul and I spent the morning wandering round Whiteknights Lake. I haven’t been there for a long time - probably not since I stopped working at the Library, and certainly not since I moved house about five years ago.

Yesterday was a good day for my newly-planted vegetable garden (six large pots and a bag for potatoes!), but not such a good day for anyone who doesn’t like getting wet.
