Three hats for three babies.

It’s just as well I was able to squeeze three little hats out of my remaining wool – a third baby was born amongst my friends on Easter Sunday. That’s three babies in one week!

Now that the birthday gift has been received (only a week late, oops…) I can now reveal my first Clapotis! I have to confess that I’ve been avoiding making a Clapotis for several years. There are more than ten thousand finished Clapotii listed on Ravelry, and another five thousand people with this project in their [...]

When I posted a picture of my experimental feather & fan scarf, Sara left a comment to say that she was coveting it. I have more scarves than I know what to do with, so it’s now hers! By a happy coincidence, she’d already bought the perfect scarf pin, for holding it in place. It’s [...]

This is the Umbilical Cord Hat, from Stitch ‘n Bitch. So many of my friends are due to have their babies in the next few weeks that I haven’t decided who this one’s for just yet. I have a sneaking suspicion you’ll be seeing a lot more of these very soon!

I made the world’s smallest scarf. I like it very much. I think I need to find or make a pretty pin/stick/thing to fasten it. Maybe something with beads that match the wool. My current project is another feather & fan scarf – this time knitted on 8mm needles using Colinette Giotto. It’s coming out [...]

The latest issue of Vogue Knitting (now apparently renamed Designer Knitting) landed on my doormat this morning. On my first glance through, I’ve already spotted two things that I’m dying to knit. The giant yellow jumper is the Cropped Turtleneck, by Leena Sullivan. I particularly like the sideways construction with the cables, which is what [...]

I picked up issue 2 of The Knitter yesterday, and cast on for this scarf almost immediately. So much for all the jumpers I was going to knit before I started anything else… but I’ve had this single ball of Colinette Parisienne in my stash for ages, and this seemed like the perfect use for [...]

I finished the Colourscape jumper yesterday, deciding that a big polo neck was just the thing to use up every last inch of this lovely wool. I’ve written up the pattern, which is now available for free in the shop! I’ve only written the pattern out in the one size for now – it [...]

I sewed up the Colourscape jumper and wore it to Progress Theatre on Thursday, but I’m not entirely sure that it’s actually finished. I have about three quarters of a ball of wool left over, which is tempting me to make a big cowl or polo neck in the same 2×2 rib as the hems [...]

Can you tell that I’m spring cleaning? After we took down the Christmas tree, Paul asked very nicely whether the Knitting Avalanche could be brought under control. He had offered to buy me a piece of furniture to do the job but, while I was shuffling things around elsewhere in the house, I realised that [...]
