I wouldn’t normally even consider wearing a pair of loafers, they’re simply not a style I’ve ever been terribly fond of. But these? I might just have to think about making an exception. How great would these look in the summer, with a smart pair of cropped jeans? They’re Dr Martens, and if you don’t fancy [...]

My sister bought us a couple of mugs as a kitchen-warming present. Paul’s said “Keep Calm and Carry On”, and the one above is mine. She knows us well.
These boots weren’t made for walking.

At the end of December I received an email that I just couldn’t resist – a message about the Jeffery~West sale. I went to their website, just to have a look, you understand, and discovered that the Rochester Rafael boots were now half price. Even better – there were several colours left in my size! After [...]
My new shoes are so obscenely cute, they make me laugh every time I look at my feet. Last year I went back to my favourite choir. For the Christmas concert, which required formalwear, I bought an ankle length black dress. Unfortunately my only pair of plain black shoes were flat, and my dress dragged [...]
Aren’t these just the most adorably cute shoes you’ve ever seen? Sadly they’ll never be mine, as they’re only available in UK sizes 9-13. Amber & Jade specialise in women’s shoes for larger feet. They also come in two different width fittings, because longer feet aren’t necessarily wider feet too. There are around 40 different [...]
It has to be said that I’m well known for making ridiculous dresses from quilting fabrics with completely inappropriate prints. So when I discovered that eQuilter were stocking Dr Seuss fabrics, my heart leapt! There are seventeen different prints, but I think that these two are the most suitable least inappropriate best ones for making [...]
Traditional English Summer.

Last weekend we paid a visit to Broadlands, where there was a multi-period historical re-enactment weekend going on. As you can see, the weather was absolutely ideal for a British summer’s day out. As it turned out the Victorian Redcoats didn’t have to shelter for very long, but it was certainly very wet while it [...]
Young Designer – Mary Quant

During the 1960s, the big pattern companies enlisted the help of the hottest young designers to bring the latest fashions to their catalogues. This is Butterick 5912, designed by Mary Quant, whose patterns were licensed by Butterick well into the 1970s. I have a sneaking suspicion that this design is about as old as me. [...]
Jeffery~West have done it again. I only went to their website to see whether there was anything left in the sale that was a) in my size and b) purple. (Sadly not, on both counts.) And then I thought I’d just have a little look to see whether there was anything new… which is when [...]
A friend on Facebook alerted me to the fact that Converse currently have a Dr Seuss collection! I’m terribly disappointed that the “One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish” designs are only available on kids’ shoes. I’d love a pair of these!
