I find the very short rows of working over four needles quite irritating - it jerks my attention too much when I have to switch to the next needle. I do like the difference between knit and purl as well, I find it gives my hands a break from just knitting and knitting and knitting. Mind you, I'm not addicted to sock knitting - yet. As soon as I fall down that hole, I'm sure you won't be able to get the dpns out of my hands! I can’t decide about knitting in the round at all. I have to say that I really like doing socks and mittens in the round - I am just knitting a pair of socks on ordinary needles, and I find it a bit of a pain, added to the fact that there will be seams to sew up.
