If you write it out like this: k2tog 3 times, (yo, k1) 6 times, k2tog 3 times you can see that you need to have a "k2tog 3 times" on each side of the "(yo, k1) 6 times" for the repeat to work. k2tog 3 times, (yo, k1) 6 times, k2tog 3 times

you can see that you need to have a “k2tog 3 times” on each side of the “(yo, k1) 6 times” for the repeat to work.
